Shared Drive - Opening and Pinning to Quick Access

This article will explain how you can access a network share drive (file share) and how to pin it to your file explorer or finder for simpler future navigation. 

Instructions:

Windows

  1. Start by right clicking the start button and choosing File Explorer, or by selecting the manila envelope in your task bar.

  1. Type the following in the address bar  \\delhi.edu\share\   and select the share you are looking for.

  1. Right click on Quick Access and choose Pin current folder to Quick Access

  1. You will now see your Network Drive listed as a folder under 'Quick Access'

⇒ Note: Windows 10 does not allow renaming of network drives under Quick Access

Mac

  1. Open Finder.  Then In the upper left select Go and Connect to Server

  1. Enter SMB://delhi.edu/share/ then the name of the share.  Click Connect

  1. Last click on File and click Add to Sidebar to add as a shortcut to Finder
