PowerPoint - Reduce File Size

Description:

PowerPoint files can sometimes be too large to upload in email or for an assignment.  Try these tips to reduce the size.

Instructions:

  1. Click on any picture in your presentation.
  2. Click Picture Format tab
  3. Click Compress Pictures
  4. Uncheck the box that says "Apply only to this picture" (this will compress all images in the file.)
  5. Resolution: Select Web (150 ppi) – good for web pages and projectors
  6. Click OK

If the file size of the presentation is still too large

1. Simplify the Theme:

  1. Click the Design tab on the top ribbon.

  2. Choose a basic theme (preferably mostly white or plain backgrounds).

2. Compress Embedded Videos/Audio (if applicable):

  1. Go to File > Info.

  2. Click Compress Media, then choose Internet Quality or Low Quality.

Note: This option only appears if your presentation contains video or audio.​​​​​​​
