Jabber - How to Install and Set Up

Description:

Jabber allows faculty and staff to have full capabilities of their office phone from anywhere! This page will walk you through the steps of installing the software on your desktop.

Instructions:

  1. Go to the search bar on the bottom left corner of your computer and type 'Software Center' and click on the app to open it

⇒ NOTE: If you do not have access to Software Center, you will need to call the Help Desk 607-746-4835 to install jabber and can not self install)

  1. Select “Cisco Jabber” from the Applications menu (version may vary from image)

  1. Click Install
  2. Once complete, you should now have a “Cisco Jabber” icon on your desktop – Double click the icon to open Jabber

  1. Enter your username and password (this is the same that you use to sign on your computer) and click “Sign In”

⇒ Note: If you receive the prompt below, click “Accept”

  1. Jabber should now load, and you may see the below popup - Click “Add to my locations if you do

  1. Once you are in, you can also add your account for voicemail if you would like to access your voicemail using Jabber - Click the gear icon in the top right of the screen, and select 'Options'

  2. Then select "Accounts" from the menu on the left, and enter your username and password (same as your network account) and click "OK"

  3. And now you can click the voicemail icon on the main screen to access your voicemail (Note, if you receive your voicemail via email you will not see any messages)
