MFA – Setting up a Token for a New User

Description:

Overview of the process for new users signing in for the first to setup a Hardware Token as the default MFA method. This process assumes the token’s info has been uploaded to Entra ID by campus staff.

Information:

  1. Sign in to an SSO supported application like email at http://outlook.com/delhi.edu
  2. Enter your email address
    sign in line
     
  3. Enter your temp passwordenter password
     
  4. The prompt Let's keep your account secure will show click Next
    Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
     
  5. Click on I want to setup a different method
    Click on I want to setup a different method
     
  6. Click on Hardware Token
    Click on Hardware Token
     
  7. Enter serial number from back of the token, click Next
    Enter the token's serial number
  8. Name the token, click NextName the token, click Next
     
  9. Tap button on token, Enter number that appears, click NextUploaded Image (Thumbnail)
     
  10. For the second MFA method leave as Phone and Receive a code. (Other options like Microsoft Authenticator are available under 'I want to set up a different method' if preferred).
    Enter the phone number and click Nextchoose second mfa option
     
  11. Enter the verification code you received and click Nextenter code
     
  12. On the success page click Done
    The new user will be redirected to change their password.
    Complete the fields and click Sign in
    update password screen
