Customize your presence during a Teams meeting by editing your display name.
This is a limited option: it is per-meeting and relies on the organizer to have this option enabled.
What can you do?

Examples of Preferred Name:
- A shortened derivative of a name (e.g., “Sue” for “Susan”)
- A middle name instead of a first name
- First and middle initials (e.g., “A.J.” for “Andrew John”)
- An anglicized or westernized name (e.g, “Peter” instead of “Xingyu”)
- A name that better represents the individuals gender identity
- A name which the individual is in the process of legally changing
Instructions:
To edit your display name, the meeting organizer must have turned on Let people edit their display name in meeting options.
To edit your display name:
- Select People
in your meeting controls.
- In the Participants pane, hover over your name and select More options
>Edit display name
- Enter a name and click Save
Your edited name will remain throughout the duration of the meeting.
