Desktop Client

Accruent EMS software has a client desktop application used by Facilities staff.

The EMS Desktop Client is designed to only connect to one EMS instance. Therefore, EMS Desktop Client users must use a computer other than the one that is used for connecting to the production instance of EMS when they want to connect to the test instance of EMS. 

To install the desktop client for the test instance of EMS, please follow these steps:

  1. Visit this URL: https://ems2.delhi.edu/emsdesktopwebdeploy/
  2. Click the link to download and install the EMS Desktop Client
    1. Click "Keep" to allow the browser to download the configuration file
  3. Run the downloaded application

Note: If you need to switch between using production and test instances of the EMS Desktop Client on the same computer, there is a registry key that will need to be cleared. Here are the steps to clear the registry key:

Switching Between Environments for EMS Desktop Client Web Deploy

To modify the Registry Editor Administrator permissions are required

  1. Users can switch their EMS Desktop Client between test and production environments.

  2. The EMS Desktop Client runs from the executable file located here: C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\EMS2016\EMSApplication.exe. As we cannot point to any two of these environments with the same EMS executable Desktop Client file, users must clear the EMS registry entry and then point to the desired environment.

  3. Clear the EMS registry entry by utilizing the following .reg file.
    The content of this file is as follows: 

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\EMS Software\Version 223] 
    "AppFacadeUrl"=-

  4. Copy the test above to a text editor and save it as ResetEMSConnection.reg and run it.

  5. Please update the version number to version found under: ​​​​
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\EMS Software\Version * 

  6. On the firs prompt Click Yes.

  7. On the second prompt Click OK.

  8. Open the EMS desktop client and enter the URL of the instance you would like to connect:
    Prod: https://ems1.delhi.edu/emsdesktopwebdeploy/ 
    Test: https://ems2.delhi.edu/emsdesktopwebdeploy/

  9. Access the EMS desktop client.

  10. Settings are saved from the last time the EMS Desktop Client was accessed. When a user wants to switch environments it needs to run the ResetEMSConnection.reg file again and follow steps 6 to 9.
