Description:
Responus lockdown browser is used to lock down testing environments. By using the lockdown browser students are unable to access other websites, go to other applications, copy, print, or close a test until the time set is up or submission for grading is completed.
⇒Note: It is recommended to have a practice exam utilizing Respondus to make sure all students can access the exam.
Instructions:
Installing Respondus
- Go to the exam
- Scroll to the bottom of the page
- Click Download and install the latest version of LockDown Browser
⇒ Note: Respondus requires an admin of the computer to install
Possible link alternatives:
On Windows and Mac:
- Select Install Now
- Follow the prompts for installing the program on your computer
On Chromebook:
- Select Add to Chrome to install the LockDown Browser Extenstion
⇒ NOTE: be sure to allow pop ups for Brightspace in the Chrome Browser. When in Online Delhi, go to "Settings" > "Privacy and Security" > "Site Settings" > "Pop ups and redirects" and set to Allow.
Taking a Quiz or Exam
- To take the quiz go back to your Online Delhi course and select Launch LockDown Browser
TIPS: Click Check your LockDown Browser Setup to confirm all is working well.
Also, restart your computer!
Troubleshooting
- If you are in an exam and everything freezes, you need to restart your computer. It should let you resume your exam after the restart.
- Uninstall and reinstall Respondus

Windows, Mac, Chromebook and iPads can work with Respondus.
NOTE: For iPads to work, you must install the app AND the instructor must check the box when setting up Respondus, under Advances Settings: 'Allow students to take this exam with an iPad (using the 'LockDown Broswer' app from the Apple App Store)'
